Flowers on dresses, blouses and cardigans. Miuccia Prada presents its top models with huge applications of colors.

Red & White

The combination of flat and volume applications looks very impressive.
The petal motif you will find at the top next to the photo of the model.

You will need

Dress, satin 140 cm wide: white 50 cm long and red 25 cm long; set for making small flowers; red and white threads for embroidery; sharp-pointed embroidery needle; threads for sewing.

Description of work

Copy and cut motive (if necessary, increase or decrease). Next use it as a template.
Fold the red satin in half with the front side inwards. Prick pattern. Cut the petal with 5 mm allowances. Stitch along the edge of the pattern. On the back of the petal, make a 3 cm cut for turning out. Turn out the sheet, iron the edges.
Sew the following 11 leaves in the same way.
From the white atlas, cut 2 square size. 21 x 21 cm and 2 circles diam. 4 cm. Stitch the squares face to face, leave a hole of approx. 5 cm for eversion. Unscrew the square, iron the edges. Sew the hole.
Cut one circle in the middle to a length of approx. 2 cm for eversion. Fold the circles face to face, grind, the width of the seam is 5 mm. Turn out the circle and iron the edges. To chop a circle in the middle of a square, sew the edges manually.
Chop the flower petals evenly around the circle and sew by hand. Embroider threads with decorative stitches, as shown in the model photo. Sew a square (see photo) on the dress. Make 3 small flowers according to the instructions on the package and sew on the dress, as shown in the photo.

Contrast time

Geometrically crisp shapes give the floral decor a fresh feel.

You will need

Dress, white satin size. about 20 x 30 cm; red cotton fabric OK. 15 x 20 cm; red threads for embroidery; sharp-pointed embroidery needle; threads for sewing.

Description of work

From the atlas cut 2 circles of dia. 8 cm and 6 circles diam. 6 cm. Cut 12 squares of size from cotton fabric. 4 x 4 cm. On a large circle and 3 small circles in the middle, make a cut of approx. 3 cm for eversion (= underside of the flower). Fold the circles with a cut and without a cut face to face, grind, seam width 5 mm. Turn the circles out and iron them.
Chop a large circle on the front of the dress, sew the edges manually. In the middle, embroider a large cross stitch with red thread for embroidery. On the squares, cut the sections to the wrong side, 1 cm wide. Squares with an interval of 1 cm from the circle are evenly chopped on the front of the dress and sew. Between the circle and the square, lay 2 rows of stitches in front of the needle with thread for embroidery. The length of the stitches and the spacing between them is 5 mm.
Sew a small circle at a distance of 1 cm under a large circle with squares in the middle of the dress. Sew two other small circles on the sleeves.Along the edges, lay 1 row of “forward needle” stitches with thread for embroidery. Embroider 3 knots in the middle of the front small circle.

Tender dance

The focus is on satin flowers with bright red stitches.
The motive is at the top, at the beginning of the article, next to the photo of the model.

You will need

Dress, white satin: for each flower flap size. OK. 20 x 40 cm, template, pencil, marker with self-disappearing paint, red threads for embroidery, scissors, a sheet of paper, a needle for embroidery with a sharp tip, pins.

Step 1

The motive is to copy and enlarge (or reduce) to the desired size. To cut. Fold the sheet of paper four times and lay the motive on it, aligning the corners. Circle the contours. Cut and lay out the pattern.

Step 2

Pin the pattern to a half-folded satin and cut with a 5 mm seam allowance. Stitch details face to face. Cut allowances close to the stitch. In the corners, cut close to the stitches. On the outside corners of the allowances, cut obliquely close to the stitches. Cut one piece in the middle to a length of 4 cm (this will be the bottom of the flower). Twist the flower through this cut. Iron the edges.

Step 3

Pin the flower to the dress and sew it by hand with embroidery threads in red.
