Size: each head approx. 30 x 30 cm.
YOU WILL NEED 1 skein of floristic (flexible) wire diam. 0.65 mm; old newspapers; wallpaper paste; wood glue (15 ml); acrylic paints: white, ivory, siena, dark brown, black; a brush, a little thick cardboard; fine sand paper; hook and nail for hanging pictures.
HOW TO MAKE From newsprint (crumpled it up), make the main (approximate) shape for the heads and entwine it with wire, then give the heads a shape, as in the photo. Do it as follows.
Knead a little wallpaper paste and add a few drops of wood glue to it. Pull newspapers in strips and paste over the main form in 2-3 layers. Allow to dry. Continue to paste over newspaper strips, giving the heads a more precise shape. For example, stick more layers of paper on your forehead and cheeks. Make eyebrows above the eyes. Ears and horns should be arranged separately and fixed on the head with long strips of paper. Dry every 2-3 layers to make the dummies more durable. In conclusion, make the neck with such a bend so that it fits nicely against the wall.
For the base of the neck, cut out a circle or oval from thick cardboard according to the shape of the neck. Glue the cardboard on the base of the neck, which will fit against the wall. The neck is firmly attached to the head with long newspaper strips. I let it dry completely.
Paint the dummy with white paint or ivory paint. On the head of the zebra, apply the pattern of the skin with black paint, on the dummy of the giraffe - sienna and dark brown. Allow the paints to dry completely.
For the vintage effect, dummies can be rubbed slightly (you can only in some places) with sandpaper. You can rub so that in some places peeping newsprint.
Attach the hook for hanging with carpentry glue to the top of the neck. Drive a nail into the wall, apply a little wood glue to the nail. Allow to dry and hang imitations on the wall.
