Elephants and giraffes, or any other animal - voluminous figures made of flexible and plastic wire will add an exotic touch to your interior.
YOU WILL NEED For each animal, a small skein of flexible thin (diam. 0.65 mm) wire, 1 wire cutter.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK First, make the base of the body from the wire by bending the wire in turns: for a small elephant, dia. OK. 4 cm, 8 cm long, for a large elephant approx. diam. 7 cm, 15 cm long and for giraffe dia. OK. 4 cm and a length of 10 cm. Firmly wrap this base with wire. Make sure that the wire is solid, and not in separate pieces, otherwise you or your guests will injure your fingers on the figures. If you still have to work with pieces of wire, then carefully hide the ends of it inside.
Then stretch 3 wires for the legs and again wrap this base with turns of wire. Having finished wrapping your leg with wire, another 2–3 times wrap your body with the end of the wire so that your legs hold firmly. Having finished with one leg, proceed to the next. Make sure that the legs are the same length, then your beast will be stable. For the same purpose, make 3-4 extra turns on the ends of the legs. At the giraffe, make a few extra turns on your lap. When the giraffe is ready, you will be able to bend your legs in these places (at least it will be easier to do).
For the ears of an elephant, first make 2 large round stems, then wire them around, ready ears slightly bend in the middle.
Make the elephant’s trunk and giraffe’s neck like legs, but as you approach the body, curl the wire more tightly.
Make 2 small spirals for the giraffe’s horns. For the tail, stretch a piece of wire and circle 2-3 times in the opposite direction.
Finally, cut the wire, leaving a tip 2 cm long and hide this tip inside the turns of wire.
TIP If you bend the legs of the figures at the knees, they will be more stable.
