The popular designer Dasha Gauser in our anniversary project offers to update the costume from Burda, which became a hit in the spring of 1987.

Our costume interested the designer primarily in his feminine form, resembling a peplum dress.

How attractive are these models today?

Basque always looks advantageous, especially when there is not enough volume in certain parts of the figure. In addition, the Basque emphasizes the waist, even if it is not very pronounced. I like the shape of the skirt, the extra volume is useless here. A pencil skirt is always relevant, I advise all readers to have several skirts of this silhouette in the wardrobe. But here the length of the midi closes the knee and “cuts” the eggs exactly in the place where it is as voluminous as possible. For those whose parameters are far from model, I suggest using the example of Victoria Beckham: she moved the length of the midi skirt to where the calf ends and the thin part of the leg begins. Then a graceful ankle opens to the look, and we see the chiseled legs. I would leave the insert on the skirt, it looks interesting, but would make it smoother, not so architectural - it will turn out more feminine. Bulky shoulders give out the style of the 80s in a suit.Therefore, it is necessary to make changes to the design: raise the shoulder line, remove the shoulder pad from there and slightly narrow the sleeve. Since then, much has changed, especially technology and fabrics, and we must use it. You can take stretch fabric - in this case, it is easy to narrow the sleeve. I also propose a dark version of this costume. White color looks great on the coast, but active girls living in the city need comfort and practicality. You can sew a classic black suit or an elegant color of a thundercloud. Such a suit is suitable for office weekdays, and after working in it you can go to a party, adding beads, a bracelet and a clutch.
And, of course, a bonus from the designer: I would make a female profile on the chest or a small pocket in the corporate style of Dasha Gauser.

What difficulties can arise when tailoring a suit?

Each figure is individual, and the patterns are universal. You need to love your figure and treat her with respect. I recommend first stitching the layout from a simple coarse calico, without processing the seams, which does not take much time. Then make changes to the pattern (and this is already modeling - you are creating!) And only then start cutting from expensive fabric. This way you can avoid mistakes and the jacket will fit perfectly.
